West End Building’s Transformation to Begin
Following the recent purchase of the property at 619 West State Street, new owners 619 WSS, LLC and HOLT Architects are ready to begin the building’s transformation. Renovations start this week and will continue through March 2016.
Even though HOLT will be creating an exciting new aesthetic for the building, the team will be reusing much of the existing shell. This means there will be minimal exterior disruption to the building surrounds.
“We are not anticipating any disturbance to West State Street throughout the renovation other than the natural curiosity and excitement that construction brings. The exterior envelope work is limited to window replacements and thermal upgrades, including “re-skinning” the exterior, which will help us meet our Net-Zero energy target. Neither of these components produce high levels of noise, nor will they have any impact on West State Street’s traffic in either direction” says HOLT President Graham Gillespie.
Interior plans for the building include converting the existing 5-tenant layout into HOLT’s new home, plus two spaces for other commercial tenants (one of the two spaces is still currently available for lease).
“The interior is where we are really able to enhance the environment for our designers. Our team has created a space that fosters a collaborative design process and is rooted in sustainability, technology and the core values of our firm” says Lead Project Designer Michael Barnoski.
HOLT Architects celebrated a “ground-breaking” with others on the West State Street corridor at an on-site ceremony Thursday September 10th. More detailed construction information will be released throughout the project on HOLT Architects’ website www.HOLT.com.
